User meeting in New Jersey

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

During November 4 and 5 the 4:th Q-Sense User Meeting was held at Rutgers University. The meeting was hosted by Professor Joachim Kohn, Q-Sense customer since long and director of the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials.

The meeting gave users the opportunity to meet with Q-Sense representatives, discuss applications with fellow scientists and learn more about Q-Sense and QCM-D. There was also a workshop on QTools, the viscoelastic modeling software. The users were invited to present their specific application and a lot of different topics were covered including; polymer and particle adsorption, pH induced phase shifts, biomaterial development, multilayers, lipid bi-layers, polyelectrolytes, enzymatic degradation of polymer films etc. The modeling workshop provided an opportunity for users to learn more about the viscoelastic representation incorporated in the QTools modeling software, the assumptions and limits of the applicability of the model as well as the practical operation of the software. There was also a social event with dinner at a New Jersey City restaurant overlooking the sky line of Manhattan.
