User Meeting in Karlsruhe
Tuesday, October 14, 2003
The second Q-Sense user meeting was held during two mid October days in the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe courtesy of Dr. Alexander Welle and colleagues. The event was open for all users of the QCM-D technology, who met, listened and discussed with fellow scientists from a variety of academic disciplines. All participants were encouraged to hold short
User Presentations, which was highly appreciated and a variety of talks with high scientific standards were presented. Lipid vesicle adsorption, build-up of polyelectrolyte multilayers, protein- and cell adsorption, papermaking applications, studies of surfactants, biomaterial applications and light intensity effects were amongst the addressed topics. The meeting attracted users from all over the world and 14 different nationalities were represented, the majority of whom were Europeans, but users as far away as from USA, Canada, Singapore and Australia were also present. The new version of QTools was released and used during a tutorial modeling session where the participants were able to get a first glance of the new features included (extended viscoelastic model, kinetic models) and the completely redesigned user interface. After a full day of science, there was also time for a brief visit to the Centre for Art and Media, which stimulates the creative side of its visitors’ minds. A huge ”thank you” to each and every one of you who attended and contributed to the 2
nd Q-Sense User Meeting. Special thanks to all the users having User Presentations, and to Dr. Fredrik Höök and Dr. Alexander Welle for their thorough and informative lectures
