Lipids, proteins and polymers are key elements for the rational design of biofunctional materials. With QCM-D, a full sequence of functionalization steps can be monitored in one measurement.

  • The formation of supported lipid membranes can be routinely followed and their quality verified. Thanks to the D-factor, intact adsorbed liposomes can easily be distinguished from planar supported lipid membranes.
  • The interaction of membrane binding proteins, DNA, peptides or polymers with lipid membranes can be monitored in real time. The kinetics of membrane degradation, e.g., by lipases can also be tracked.
  • Various types of surfaces - metals, polymers, functionalized and even nano-structured coatings - can be employed.

Please find application notes on your right.
